It’s amazing to know how much babies start learning in mother’s womb. Have you ever heard the story of Abhimanyu- the warrior prince, son of Krishna’s sister Subhadra and Arjun? According to this mythological legend, Abhimanyu learned the secret technique to break chakravyuh (a seven-tier, defensive, spiral formation) while he was in his mother’s womb. When Subhadra was pregnant, Arjun was narrating his experience with the technique of chakravyuh and how it can be penetrated. While Arjun was narrating, Subhadra dozed-off. Due to this, Abhimanyu only knew how to penetrate and enter the chakravyuh but didn’t know how to escape it.
Researchers have found that the babies are the best learners and start learning from the beginning of the last trimester. Whatever the mother eats, speaks, listens, and reads affect the baby’s overall personality. Therefore, it is advised that mother should eat healthy, stay calm, do good deeds, listen to soothing music etc.
“Once we learn a sound, if it’s repeated to us often enough, we form a memory of it, which is activated when we hear the sound again.”-says Partanen in his research study.
What are the things that babies learn in womb?
- Recognizes Taste: Baby recognizes the tastes of some foods which the mother eats. A research shows that mother who eats bananas regularly during pregnancy gave birth to a child who loves eating bananas.
Recognize Music: Babies recognize songs in the womb. In a study, a song is played before baby’s birth and the same song is played after birth. Baby starts to shook his heads, feet, and hands.
- Facial expressions: Pregnant women are advised to stay happy and calm as it can affect the nature of the baby. Babies can make a face by curling their mouth in a smile. They express their pain by lowered eyebrows, wrinkled nose, and stretched mouth.
